Symposium Announcement and Call for Posters


On Saturday, April 9, 2005, the Connecticut Separation Science Council (CSSC) and the Department of Chemical Engineering of Yale University will be co-hosting The Csaba Horváth Memorial Symposium. The symposium is planned to start at 10:00 a.m. and will run until approximately 4:00 p.m. It will be held at the Mason Laboratory Building on the Yale University campus. The symposium will include podium presentations and a small poster session with Lloyd Snyder as the keynote speaker. He will be presented with the 2005 CSSC Csaba Horváth Medal for his in-depth perceptions and studies into liquid chromatography.

Morning Session
10:30 - 11:00 a.m. Talk 1: Yang Shi, Yale University: "Multistep mass tagging coupled with 2D/LC strategy for quantitative proteomics".

11:00 - 11:30 a.m.  Talk 2: Dr. Jian Zhang, Northeastern University: "Development of nano-HPLC/MS system for attomole level proteome analysis with monolithic column technology".

11:30 - 12:00 p.m. Talk 3: Prof. Henrik Pedersen, Rutgers University: "Strategies for genetic modification of plant cells associated with synthesis of secondary metabolites and their regulation".

12:00 - 1:00 p.m. Deli-style lunch with continuation of the Poster Session.

2:00 - 2:30 p.m. Talk 6: Dr. Xian Huang, Advion BioSciences: "Coupling nano-LC to automatic chip-based nanospray emitters for mass spectrometric protein identification and characterization".

Call for Posters: 

The Connecticut Separation Science Council (CSSC) and the Dept. of Chemical Engineering of Yale University are issuing a Call for Posters for their upcoming symposium, The Csaba Horváth Memorial Symposium. This one-day event will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2005 at Mason Laboratory Building, Yale University on Hillhouse Avenue in New Haven, CT.

The poster content should describe practical applications of separation science in an academic, pharmaceutical, industrial or environmental discipline. The deadline for submitting an abstract is March 31, 2005 for the poster session. The abstract will be included in the program. Final poster size must be no larger than 48"x 48". There is no cost for submitting a poster; however there is a registration cost to attend the symposium. Please see the attached guidelines prior to submitting an abstract.

Poster Session Guidelines and Disclaimers:

1. The deadline for poster submission is Thursday, March 31, 2005. An abstract, in Microsoft Word® format suitable for publication, must be received by this date to the email above in order to participate.
2. The poster must fit in the space provided (48" X 48"’).
3. No direct sales presentations are allowed!
4. The CSSC reserves the right to reject any poster at any time.
5. All authors who attend the symposium must register for the symposium separately and pay the registration fee. At least one author must be present at the symposium.
6. The CSSC reserves the right to cancel the poster session due to low turnout.
7. All authors must be aware that this is a PUBLIC forum, and all information included in the posters and abstracts must be approved for public dissemination. It is that author’s responsibility to secure the approval of all intellectual property holders prior to participation in the poster session. 

Directions

General Directions to Yale University and to Mason Laboratory

It is best to go to Yale's web site for driving directions: www.yale.edu

The Mason Laboratory Building is on Hillhouse Avenue. However, Hillhouse Avenue is not clearly marked on the campus map panel. Hillhouse is between Temple and Prospect Streets. The Mason Lab is located one block over from the large Silliman Building and down the road from the Kirkland Building.

General Driving Directions to Yale University

Using the Wilbur Cross/Merritt Parkways: 

Take Exit 61: Drive south on Whitney Avenue for approximately five miles. Turn right on Sachem Street at the Peabody Museum traffic light. Continue to next traffic light (at Prospect Street) and turn left. Proceed for two blocks until Prospect Street becomes College Street. 

Take Exit 57: Drive east on Route 34 (Derby Avenue) for approximately five miles past the Yale Athletic Fields). Take a left onto Route 10 North, Ella T. Grasso Boulevard. Proceed to fifth traffic light, and turn right onto Whalley Avenue. Continue straight for 1.3 miles. Whalley becomes Broadway, and Broadway becomes Elm Street.

Using I-95 East or West get on I-91 going North.

Using I-91 North. In New Haven; take Exit 3 (Trumbull Street).

Using I-91 South take Exit 3 (Trumbull Street).

In all cases continue to end of Trumbull Street, turn right, and continue for 1/2 block. 

Suggested Yale University Parking Lots

Since the Symposium is on a Saturday, there is free parking along Hillhouse Avenue and nearby streets. Or there should be parking available in either Lot 38 or Lot 32. 

Lot #38 Large lot entered from Prospect Street just north of Trumbull. About 1 1/2 blocks from Mason Lab. Hillhouse Ave. can be reached by following the walkway around Luce Hall, then head south to Mason Lab.

Lot #32 Large lot entered from Prospect Street just north of Trumbull on the corner of Prospect Place (diagonally across the street from Lot #38). Hillhouse Ave. can be reached by walking through Lot #38 and following the walkway around Luce Hall, then head south to Mason Lab.
